Hydropower installation in Switzerland

The concept of hydroelectricity generates about 24 percent of the world's electricity and supply more than 1 billion people with power. The world's hydropower plants output a combined total of 675,000 megawatts, the energy equivalent of 3.6 billion barrels of oil, according to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
The town of Wald, in the Zürcher Oberland of Switzerland, uses TBOX to automate its power stations with full remote control.

The hydropower plant located in Tiefenhof captures the energy of falling water to generate electricity. A turbine converts the kinetic energy of falling water into mechanical energy. Then a generator converts the mechanical energy from the turbine into electrical energy.

TBOX monitors the quantity of water in the river, controlling the dam level by regulating the flow at the entrance of the generator. Complete remote control is performed by any maintenance personal from their WEB pages at home. In case of alarm, SMS are sent to the relevant persons in charge. According to the day and time of the week, TBOX automatically adapts the chaining and linking of alarm messages to the appropriate engineer.

Accurate datalogging permits also to adapt the electricity output according to the demand, allowing serious savings for the company.
