Remote Magnet Monitoring in Hospitals

The manufacturer of Super Conducting Magnet required a system to remotely monitor their NMR magnets. The system had sent alarm messages and reports via e-mail, and allow engineers to remotely view mimic pages and potentially make changes to system parameters via PSTN/GSM phone line.

The ideal products for this application was identified by the customer as T-BOX. One T-BOX per system was interfaced to the magnet master control PC to receive the status data from the magnet. This data was scaled by the T-BOX and displayed on mimic screens in a clear and concise way. Alarm conditions were logged by the T-BOX and sent via e-mail to notify the customer of potential problems with the system. Historical trending of all specified functions is carried out by the T-BOX and regularly reported back to the customer's engineers via e-mail with a .CSV attachment.

The mimics above allows the engineer to change system parameters. This can be done locally via an RS232 connection or remotely via the telephone line. The mimics or "webforms" are viewed using Internet Explorer.
